Haha, the Porsche is a much bigger money pit than the Mercedes is. In fact the Mercedes doesn't take much money at all from me (except in gas), but I buy lots of little things for it which it doesn't need...

I just opened this post and I think all the money in my wallet just ran away in fear.

yeah but if something goes wrong with a 10 year old merc over in europe, it's no biggie but here the euro shops charge big bucks because they can. Here's hoping nothing goes wrong.

I do all work on the ML myself, which saves me a lot of money. No one except me will ever touch my car (except for tires, and I still cringe when I watch them put my tires on).

easy to work on?

Well that's the only way I'd ever own anything like that as well; so if you've got the tools then I'm sure those cars must be great, i.e. driving them without worrying about the next big repair.

Are they? I wouldn't know. I was mostly referring to the cost of the replacement parts.

Buy a lot of stuff for it, hm? I can only assume it's because you're converting it into one of these:
Right?

Oh derp. I clicked on the wrong guy. My bad- I drank a bit much last night and I'm apparently still feeling the effects

How easy is the Merc to work on?

Will the porsshhhhaa make its appearance at the next meet?

I hope so...

I like working on it because I don't need to jack it up often haha.

I am guilty of that too. I love working on my wife's Forester because it's just big enough that I can get under there without any jack stands or ramps

You are a brave brave man.

When I get new tires I check the pressure in them and inevitably they are overinflated by ten or fifteen pounds per square inch. The sticker on the door of my car says they should be inflated to 26 psi (I usually go with 28) but the guys who sell tires always inflate them to the pressure limits stamped on the tire itself, typically 40 psi or so. You drive it out of the shop and it feels like you're rolling on metal railroad train wheels. Is that just a USA thing or do you see that in Europe too?

The employees at those shops are usually not much more than monkeys... I wouldn't know I live in New York. :P
